NodeSchool YQR

NodeSchool YQR || NODEtrip to YXE - April 2017

April 1st, 2017

On April 1st, 2017, NodeSchool YQR mentors planned something unique for the developer community in Saskatoon. No, it wasn’t a well-designed prank for April Fool’s Day... it was a special edition of NodeSchool YQR. They have so much fun organizing NodeSchool in Regina and wanted to share the experience with their friends to the North.

So, that Saturday, six NodeSchool YQR mentors grabbed a bunch of coffee and took a nodetrip (get it?) up to Saskatoon to host an afternoon NodeSchool event at Innovation Place. Our mentors had two main goals: get a group of like-minded individuals together to learn and work on Node.js tutorials, and encourage Saskatonians to establish their own NodeSchool chapter in their city!

It was a successful afternoon! Thirty-five individuals came out to work on nodeschool.io tutorials, and meet new friends in Saskatoon’s developer community. The learning portion of the afternoon wrapped up around 4PM, but our mentors continued the tech talks at Louis’ Pub afterwards with some NodeSchool attendees.

We were extremely happy with the days turnout. There was great conversation generated by in-depth and perceptive questions. Our mentors made a lot of new friends during their trip to Saskatoon. If anyone has any questions about the next steps in how to create your own NodeSchool chapter - please do not hesitate to reach out to our team! We would love to answer any questions or comments you have.
